THE number of jobs in the environmental and sustainable sectors is growing.

A report by the Green Jobs Initiative, which involves the UN Environment Programme, said the greener economy could generate 15 to 60 million new jobs globally over the next two decades in sectors such as energy, retail, agriculture, manufacturing and transport.

Celia Rizothanasi, 38, from Chiswick, West London, is marketing director at in Your Face Advertising, an ‘eco-tech’ marketing and advertising agency in London.

She says: ‘ My job is hugely rewarding because there is an ethical side to all our campaigns. We use fully biodegradable materials to promote the greenest eco-tech products, companies, services, initiatives and events to businesses and individuals.

‘Typical tasks for me include creating and updating websites, copywriting, posting on social media, writing advertisements and attending plenty of live events. At the moment, we are launching e-bags, which promote local businesses by providing free, reusable, recyclable and biodegradable eco-bags to residents.

‘It’s exciting to be part of an initiative that is set to be the blueprint for a national campaign to support local enterprise, help the environment and consumers.’

Arthur Chirkinian, founder of in Your Face Advertising, says: ‘Working within “ecotech” allows you to positively influence consumer habits, which appeals to people looking for a fun, cuttingedge and ethical career.’
