Wenger: Wilshere fighting for future

- SAM CUNNINGHAM

ARsEnE WEnGER says midfielder Jack Wilshere is still battling for his Arsenal career. Wilshere will start for Arsenal in tonight’s Europa League tie against Red star Belgrade with his manager undecided if he will offer him a new deal. Wilshere’s contract is up next summer and Wenger will decide next month whether to extend it. the 25-year-old is yet to start in the Premier League this season but has done regularly in the Europa League and Carabao Cup. Wenger is impressed by Wilshere’s application and, if he decides to keep the player, Arsenal will try to agree a deal in December to avoid him looking elsewhere in January. ‘I wanted to give him six months not to think about that and see where we go,’ Wenger said. ‘He was determined to work hard. now he’s found sharpness. ‘you always think he can give you a little trick. Jack can dribble and give the final ball as well. you don’t find that a lot in the same player.’
