AGUERO’S RECORD HELPS CITY MARCH ON

- CHRIS WHEELER in Naples

SERGIO AGUERO became Manchester City’s record goalscorer in Naples last night, then promised to give his shirt to eight-year-old son Benjamin. Aguero scored the third goal in an outstanding Champions League win over Napoli to go clear of Eric Brook on 178 goals and send City through to the knockout stages. The jubilant Argentine said: ‘This shirt is for my son. My family and friends in Argentina watched, so thank you. I’ll enjoy this moment. It is a one-time thing. I’m very happy for this moment and because the team support me. ‘Napoli are a good team. Away in the Champions League is difficult and to qualify is great.’ City boss Pep Guardiola paid tribute to Aguero, who broke the record on his 264th appearance for City. ‘What he’s done for all his team-mates, he’s a legend in the history of this club,’ said Guardiola. ‘Enjoy it. Everyone has to be so proud.’
