Clarifications & corrections
AN ARTICLE on October 16 said that, despite losing their Westminster seats, Alex Salmond and Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh had chosen to go on a taxpayer-funded trip to Strasbourg in their roles as delegates to the Parliamentary Assembly of europe, during which they had enjoyed a lavish dinner. We are happy to clarify that Mr Salmond and Ms Ahmed-Sheikh had been specifically invited to attend the Parliamentary session by the leader of the UK delegation, Sir roger Gale MP, and that the meal in question was a private business dinner with three other diners unrelated to Assembly affairs which Mr Salmond had paid for himself. We apologise for any contrary impression given and have made a goodwill payment to local charities nominated by Mr Salmond and Ms Ahmed-Sheikh.
