Whodunnit best on the red carpet? 59-year-old Michelle
WITH the usual suspects in the line-up at the most glamorous premiere of the year, it c could have been hard to stand out.
But as the star-studded cast gathered at the l launch of Murder On The Orient Express in L London last night, one stole the show.
Michelle Pfeiffer exuded old-fashioned Hollywood star quality in a floor-length silver gown with draped sleeves and a daringly split skirt. But she needed a little help with the dress when it t blew up in the breeze as she posed with direct tor Sir Kenneth Branagh. Miss Pfeiffer, 59, also s stunned fans with her impressively youthful a appearance and enviable figure.
She was joined by co- stars including Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Derek Jacobi, Daisy Ridley and Olivia Colman – who was announced last week to be taking over as the Queen in hit TV drama The Crown.
The film, which is based on the Agatha Christ tie classic novel and follows passengers stuck o on a train after one is murdered, is expected to b be a box office hit even though its plot is w well-known.
At the Royal Albert Hall last night, Sir Kenneth, who also plays detective Hercule Poirot in the film, said the ‘fantastic actors ... surprise you w with the power and emotion’ of the novel, addin ing: ‘I find the film very moving.’ Miss Colman, 4 43, praised the ‘escapism’ of the plot – but a admitted she has not read any Christie novels.
The film is released in cinemas today.
