Not a bright spark
CHRISTOPHER BIGGINS is delighted with his electric car (Mail), but while I agree these vehicles are practical in towns for short journeys, they are not viable for long trips because of their limited range, especially in winter when you are using heaters and wipers.
Mr Biggins says his car is saving him money, but he fails to take into consideration his outlay to buy it, which is at least £10,000 more than a similar conventional car. That’s a lot of petrol or diesel.
Electric cars will not always be cheap to run: I predict the taxes that conventional car owners pay will be transferred to electric cars when petrol and diesel is banned.
