Alan Lovell, 63 Non-executive director, Carillion

TURNAROUND specialist Alan Lovell has joined troubled construction firm Carillion

Bosses hope the 63year-old can repeat his previous successes, including the transformation of Costain and Jarvis when he ran them during the 1990s and early 2000s.

In July, Carillion saw a 70pc fall in its market value after an £845m write-down and said it was exiting some key markets. Chairman Philip Green said: ‘Alan has very relevant experience of the challenges and I look forward to his contribution.’
