Pride of the poppy
HOW sad that a third of young people refuse to wear a poppy as it ‘glorifies war’.
It doesn’t, it’s an act of remembrance for those who have served, like my three relatives who died in World War I and my grandfather Charles, who served in World War II. But how should you wear a poppy — on the left or the right side, and where should the leaf be?
I prefer the left, as it’s closest to my heart, and with the leaf at 11 o’clock. But as the Royal British Legion says, there is no right or wrong way. Just wear it with pride.
