Ivanka’s in the pink on Japan trip
CLAD in a baby pink suit with pearl buttons for her arrival in Tokyo, Ivanka Trump looked all sweetness and light yesterday.
But the charm of the US President’s daughter apparently wasn’t enough to win over a Japanese audience.
Miss Trump, 36, who is in the country ahead of Donald Trump’s nine-day tour of Asia, made a speech at the World Assembly for Women to a half-empty hall. The venue was so sparse that officials were forced to usher people forward to cover up the empty rows.
Not only that, but her striking outfit also attracted criticism from local TV commentators, who said her skirt was ‘rather short’ for a presidential adviser. The White House blamed the small audience on ‘security’, which it said stopped people getting there on time.
It was hoped Miss Trump’s appearance would soften up the crowds before her father arrives in Japan tomorrow.
In his tour, the longest trip to Asia by a US president in more than a quarter of a century, he will also visit South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines.
