Strictly awkward!

Tumbling Ruth clambers on top of Anton ... as husband Eamonn is forced to grin and bear it

FALLING over at the end of a dance routine on live television in front of 10.5million viewers sounds fairly mortifying.

But Ruth Langsford was not fazed one bit when she came crashing to the floor on Strictly Come Dancing.

Instead, the TV presenter, 57, jumped on top of her partner Anton Du Beke and straddled him for ‘comedy’ value after her paso doble on Saturday.

Fortunately, her husband Eamonn Holmes saw the funny side, laughing in the audience.

Later he joked in an Instagram video that he watched the ‘Strictly curse’, which has seen some couples break up, ‘coming true in front of my very eyes’, adding: ‘What was she doing to Anton?’ After the mishap, a giggling Miss Langsford asked Du Beke backstage: ‘Did I push you over? Sorry I’m hysterical. I thought “oh no” and then “hold on, I’ll make it comedy”.’

The eventful dance saw Miss Langsford crashing to the bottom of the leaderboard.

But she was saved by viewers’ votes and JLS star Aston Merrygold was sent home in a shock elimination after a danceoff with singer Mollie King.

Meanwhile the oldest contestant Debbie McGee, 59, who has shown age- defying flexibility and stamina, won a perfect score of 40 for her tango – the earliest time in the show’s 14year history this has been achieved.

Judge Craig Revel Horwood was so impressed he left his seat to bow down to her.
