LUIZ BLUES AXE

He’s sent to stand after row as Conte falls out with ANOTHER star

- KIERAN GILL at Stamford Bridge

DAVID LUIZ has become the latest star player to fall out with Chelsea’s manager following a training ground dispute that has seen him axed from the first team squad.

Conte left Luiz out of yesterday’s matchday 18 but his gamble paid off this time as Chelsea won their Premier League crunch match with Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United 1-0 thanks to Alvaro Morata’s second-half header.

Conte has previously fallen out with Diego Costa and Nemanja Matic and both have since left the club.

Sportsmail can reveal there was a disagreement over tactics and formation between Luiz and Conte. The Italian took offence to comments made by the Brazilian and told the centre back to watch training and yesterday’s game at Stamford Bridge from the stands. Conte said: ‘It’s very simple. The coach has to make the best decision for the team and the best decision for the team was to play with (Andreas) Christensen and on the bench to have (Ethan) Ampadu. I decided this. I have to make the best decision for the club. Not for a single player. David Luiz has to work if he wants to play, or he can stay on bench.’

Gary Neville warned yesterday that the decision could cost Conte. The Sky Sports pundit said: ‘ Every manager who has taken on the players here has gone pretty quickly.’
