Blind pervert to lose dog in case it’s used to groom kids

A PARTIALLY blind pervert convicted of downloading child pornography is to have his guide dog taken away because it is feared he may use it to ‘entice or groom’ children.

Married father- of- one Andrew Shaw, 44, was given a six-month suspended sentence after he admitted possessing 72 indecent images.

Some of the pictures showed children as young as three being abused, a court heard.

The paedophile, who is blind in one eye and has limited sight in the other, now faces losing his black labrador after the charity Guide Dogs found out about his conviction.

The former bowling club chairman was caught after police raided his then home last year in Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire, after a tip-off.

Preston Crown Court heard there are fears the dog could be used by Shaw to ‘entice or groom’ children. Shaw admitted the charges but claimed his poor sight made it difficult for him to judge the ages of the children in the images.

A Guide Dogs spokesman said after the hearing: ‘We are doing everything we can to gain repossession of the guide dog.’
