Third of VWs still not fixed
A Third of Volkswagen cars fitted with software to cheat emissions tests have not been fixed, figures show.
Mary Creagh, chairman of the commons’ environmental audit committee, obtained information from the department for Transport showing that only around two-thirds of the 1.2million vehicles affected in the UK had been fixed as of September.
Analysis shows that the rate of fixes has declined from a high of 10 per cent of affected cars per month in February to 2 per cent.
Volkswagen UK managing director Paul Willis told the transport select committee in February that the firm hoped to have completed the fixing programme by autumn of this year.
A department for Transport spokesman said: ‘The UK Government continues to take the unacceptable actions of Volkswagen extremely seriously.’
