16-yearold cousin Bobby Duncan scored the winner as England Under 17s came from 2-0 down at half-time to beat Portugal 3-2 last night. Less than a fortnight after England won the Under 17 World Cup, Steve Cooper’s next crop kicked off their European Championship campaign at Chesterfield. Manchester City’s Tommy Doyle got England back into it after the break before an own goal levelled. Duncan, who also plays for City rather than under Gerrard at Liverpool, won it three minutes from time. Manager Cooper said: ‘Fair play, they stood up to the challenge.’
