Citizens first

I HAVE sympathy with child migrants, while remembering the role of the adults who abandoned them.

However, I’d like to ask what right, legal or moral, Mr Justice Jackson had to decide they should receive priority in healthcare and school places over this country’s citizens (Mail).

Healthcare priority is set by the NHS on the basis of clinical need, not by race, religion or whether you are an asylum-seeker.

If he feels so strongly about this, perhaps the judge would like to set aside some of his not inconsiderable salary to fund a private scheme to provide fast-track healthcare.

As for the suggestion that older unaccompanied asylumseeking children could be given housing, are we going to have nominal 13-year- olds admitting they are actually 20 just to get a house?
