So Gary salts it away too

-

THE BBC’s Match Of The Day presenter Gary Lineker (right, with ex-wife Danielle Bux) is one in a long line of millionaires to be named in the Paradise Papers which expose celebrities who avoid tax. Evidently he used a tax haven to buy a £ 2.2m home in Barbados.

You’d imagine that with a £1.8m salary from the Beeb alone, the face of Walkers Crisps would be happy to pay his dues. The whole affair leaves us humble folk with a very salt-and-vinegary taste in our mouths. FOR all of us who have tried to travel from London to Brighton during the train drivers’ strike, it’s heartening to hear the dispute has been settled.

The drivers have managed to bully bosses into giving them a 30 per cent pay rise, taking their salary for a four-day week to £63,000. Perhaps they could ask Gary Lineker how to keep their cash out of the taxman’s hands.
