All eyes on the OTHER Jeremy

-

WITH Cabinet ministers falling like ninepins, the reputation of one leading Tory grows by the day.

Unlike so many of his colleagues, Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt is a safe pair of hands. He inherited a failing department from Andrew Lansley and has turned it round.

Crucially, he’s also earned the respect of doctors, nurses, other medical staff as well as NHS officials. And yet there is little praise in Westminster for Mr Hunt, who is one of the Tory Government’s great success stories. Instead, amid frenzied chatter about a major Cabinet reshuffle, Home Secretary Amber Rudd is being extolled.

It is even suggested that she could switch to the Treasury if Philip Hammond’s Budget belly-flops like his last one. For all her popularity in some areas of the media, Ms Rudd is a political novice, her business career has come under scrutiny because of her involvement with two companies in an offshore tax haven and she only has a majority of 346 in her Sussex constituency.

By contrast, Mr Hunt is a hardened professional. Now is the time for the shrewd to invest in shares in Jeremy Hunt!
