ON TRACK FOR A HAPPY ENDING...
AFTER escaping from jail to clear his name and get back the pop-up book, the finale is a fast and furious chase aboard two vintage steam trains.
The scene was a challenging blend of real-life action — filmmakers built hundreds of yards of tracks for two replica vintage trains at Hertfordshire’s Leavesden studios.
But the trains moved slowly, so CGI effects were added to give the scene velocity.
Director Paul King says: ‘It was one of those dream come true things where we said: “Can we have some trains?” and then three weeks later they arrived on the back of a lorry.’
Paddington 2 was released in cinemas nationwide yesterday.
