GARTON, 20, CALLED UP FOLLOWING BALL INJURY

SUSSEX left-arm seamer George Garton was last night called into England’s injury-hit Ashes squad as cover for Jake Ball. Scans on Ball’s ankle confirmed he has damaged ligaments and he is a major doubt for the opening Test in Brisbane. Garton, 20, who has played just nine first-class matches, was due to land in Australia with the Lions on Tuesday but is now travelling ahead of schedule.
