Mewdunnit! Cat in ‘murder bid’

-

POLICE investigating the attempted murder of a bedridden pensioner have identified their prime suspect – a stray cat.

Mayuko Matsumoto, 82, who was left unable to speak, was found last Monday with more than 20 cuts on her face at her remote mountain home in Mifune, southern Japan. Her daughter said: ‘Blood covered everything above her chin. Her face was soaked in blood.’

With no sign of a break-in, police were puzzled – until one detective realised the cuts looked like claw wounds.

According to Japan’s national broadcaster NHK, they are now awaiting the results of tests on dried blood found on the paws of one of several stray cats that live near the house.
