Chemical firm eyes Swiss football club

CHEMICALS firm Ineos is today expected to announce it has bought Swiss football club Lausanne-Sport.

It is not yet clear how much the company will pay for the club, which is in a city on the shores of Lake Geneva.

Lausanne-Sport – believed to be the oldest club on the Continent with roots dating back to 1860 – plays in the nation’s top league.

Ineos would not confirm the deal last night, although it is holding a press conference in Lausanne this afternoon to announce a major acquisition in Switzerland.
