LEAGUE ONE THIS WEEKEND
HERO OF THE WEEK
BRETT PITMAN (Portsmouth): Pitman gave a taste of what was to come when he scored Pompey’s opener at Blackpool just after halftime. When Oliver Hawkins scored an own goal to bring the home side level at 2-2 with seven minutes to play, you sensed Pompey were staring at a fourth straight defeat. Total opposite. Three minutes later, Pitman made it 3-2 to send 1,711 travelling fans bonkers.
ZERO OF THE WEEK
RYAN LEDSON (Oxford United): A player’s concentration can be the difference between three, one or no points. Unfortunately for Ledson his mistake against Northampton resulted in the latter. At 1-1, the midfielder dawdled on the ball before carelessly losing possession to Chris Long, who sprinted into the box to score the winner.
GOAL OF THE WEEK
CHUKS ANEKE (MK Dons at Fleetwood): Dons striker Aneke collected a loose ball on the edge of the box, drove forward and hit a left-foot curler across goalkeeper Alex Cairns to seal a win.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
DEREK ADAMS (Plymouth Argyle manager): Enjoying a 1-0 win at Bradford that lifted his side off the bottom, Adams said: ‘We defended very well and we’ve come to a place where there’s 20,000 fans and won — and we deserved the points.’
STAT OF THE WEEK
13 — No stopping Rotherham striker Kieffer Moore. His equaliser at Doncaster took his tally to 13 this season, more than any other player has scored in England’s top four leagues.
