TWO lines of people filed into the Santiago football stadium in Chile in 1973. The people in one line went into the depths of the stadium and were imprisoned. The others were taken through the changing rooms and out on to the pitch, where they were mown down by firing squads. A CALL TO ART (RADIO 4, 11.30AM), a three-part series on protest art in Latin America, begins with a look at an attempt to build a memorial to the victims of the murderous General Pinochet at the stadium.

JANE JONES features some intriguing and successful rearrangem­ents of well-known works in tonight’s FULL WORKS CONCERT (CLASSIC FM, 8PM), including Alison Balsom’s joyful trumpet version of Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto, the Grimethorp­e Colliery Band’s moving

interpreta­tion of Faure’s Pavane, and guitarist Craig Ogden playing a rendition of Debussy’s Clair De Lune — as well as a piece arranged for five tubas.
