THE FACEBOOK MESSAGES
In late 2013, William Cornick, above, wrote of his victim Ann Maguire in a Facebook message: ‘As long as she’s still alive I’ll be depressed, sad and angry ... So there’s only one thing to do.’
He added: ‘I would kill Maguire for a tenner.’ In a separate message he said: ‘If I’m gonna be your assassin then I’m gonna need enough pay to bail me out if I get caught. Btw [by the way] no bulls***, I am full on honest about being your assassin.’ On December 23, 2013, on Facebook: ‘Anyway for a tenner I brutally kill Maguire...by that I mean I’ll give you a tenner to do it,’ immediately adding: ‘So if I kill Maguire on Tuesday in school will you bail me out?’
Describing a possible attack, on January 1, 2014, he wrote: ‘Break into school and murder everyone inside at the current time then, smash everything Spanish, Maguire, [head of year Andrew] Kellett and art to s*** then get drunk and do it again steal everything of value and punch some walls, just a suggestion.’
In a second message he said he was ‘being pushed’ and had the ‘emotional momentum’ to carry out an attack, adding: ‘I don’t mind if I get caught.’ On January 4, 2014, he said: ‘I want power. I want the capability or choice in a sense to be able to get told off by Maguire and for me to turn around with skill, pride and power and axe her f****** cockles with a long and shiny blade.’
On the same day he said he might go ‘over the top, for example suicide or homicide’.
On January 5, 2014, he said: ‘I’m not looking forward to tomorrow ... we have Maguire and I want her to perish.’
On February 25, 2014 – two months before he killed Mrs Maguire – he wrote: ‘Remember it’s Maguire, the one absolute f****** b**** that deserves more than death, more than pain, torture and more than anything we can understand.’
