No hurry to sell Fellaini

- CHRIS WHEELER

MANCHESTER UNITED will not be panicked into selling Belgium midfielder Marouane Fellaini in January even though he has rejected a new two-year deal. Fellaini, 30 next week, has just over seven months left on his £120,000-a-week contract, so can talk to foreign clubs in January and leave as a free agent in the summer. But United have not given up on persuading him to stay and hope to reach a compromise rather than accept a reduced fee. United triggered a 12-month option in Fellaini’s contract a year ago, but he turned down the offer of a new deal in September. It is a remarkable turnaround for a player who was a symbol of the failed David Moyes era when he joined for £27.5million in 2013. Under Jose Mourinho he has won over most of the fans who jeered him when he played for Moyes. Marcos Rojo was back in action last night after almost seven months out with knee ligament damage. He played 45 minutes for United’s reserves in a 2-1 International Cup win over Athletic Bilbao.
