Ronaldo’s agent in talks with Alli
JORGE MENDES, the agent whose clients include Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho, has held formal talks with a member of Dele Alli’s family about adding the Spurs and England midfielder to his Gestifute agency. Alli’s contract with Impact Sports Management — fronted by highly-respected agent Rob Segal — does not expire until midway through next year, meaning there is no rush. Nevertheless, the meeting with Mendes is an intriguing development considering the agent’s close links with Real Madrid, who are keeping close tabs on Alli’s development. Alli is known to fancy a move to the Bernabeu at some point in his career and being a Mendes client would certainly help facilitate any deal. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is in a position of strength, however, with Alli’s current £50,000-per-week deal not due to expire until 2022. Indeed, plans are in place to extend that with a huge pay hike before the end of this season. And Levy would demand a high price, well in excess of the £89.7m Manchester United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba. For now, Alli is focusing on being fit for Saturday’s north London derby with Arsenal after a hamstring injury kept him out of England’s games against Germany and Brazil. Harry Kane will be available after a minor knee problem.
