WHAT HAS HE GOT?

-

BRIGHTON are one of the few Premier League clubs without great depth of cover for what is an improving team. However, there is a chance that one of their own will soon have an opportunity to stake a claim for a place. Molumby (below) is a tall, composed centre midfielder who joined Brighton’s youth set-up from Irish side Railway Athletic two years ago. He has an attitude and an enthusiasm that will serve him well. I like the way he hunts the ball and breaks up play before moving the ball on quickly and accurately. He plays more as an up-and-down midfielder than one specifically charged with a holding or attacking role. Watched on an awful evening, he covered the pitch in vigorous fashion, making it difficult for the opposing midfield but without troubling the referee. He can tackle and pass the ball, as most players can, but he can pass under pressure as well and that’s important. Quick into the challenge, he does not have the most powerful frame but is tall enough and sharp on his feet. He also appears to have the stamina to outrun opponents deep into the match and, although he is not physically remarkable, he is certainly not restricted by a lack of mobility.
