Boris’s dad and a snap to make his son green with envy!
HE claims never to have watched I’m A Celebrity – Get Me Out Of Here!
But despite being warned that the reality TV show in the Australian jungle is ‘particularly challenging’, Stanley Johnson, 77, was gung-ho yesterday as he prepared to become its oldest ever contestant.
Perhaps his bravado was meant to impress three of the glitzier young celebrities heading into the wild with him, reality TV star Georgia Toffolo, footballer’s wife Rebekah Vardy and singer Vanessa White.
The former MEP and father of Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson could find an unlikely ally in Miss Toffolo, 23, who starred in Made In Chelsea and is a Conservative Party member. For her, Mr Johnson may be the next best thing to the man she has said would be her dream camp-mate – his son.
Beaming as he joined the glamorous trio and six other participants for a cocktail party at a luxury house on the Gold Coast to mark the launch of the show, Mr Johnson senior said: ‘I am up for it.’
The father of four added: ‘I love the idea of being in a rainforest for a few weeks and possibly being pushed to the limit.’ He said he would ‘settle for’ being one of the three finalists on the ITV show, which starts tomorrow.
