Solanke’s time will come, insists Klopp
JURGEN KLOPP has assured Dominic Solanke his time at Liverpool will come after he experienced the bright lights as an England international. Solanke came on as a substitute against Brazil at Wembley on Tuesday and Klopp was thrilled for the 20-year-old. There is no sign, though, of Solanke becoming a fixture for Liverpool as he has made only one start — in the Carabao Cup at Leicester in September. ‘Apart from his football skills, his character is outstanding,’ said Klopp, who will be without the injured Joel Matip for Southampton’s visit. ‘He is completely calm with the situation. He has made five, six, seven appearances. ‘Dominic had one game from the beginning, we lost, but he did really well. ‘He is really involved, an important member of the squad. That is what he wanted. He wants to be closer. He doesn’t feel like “roll out the red carpet”, he is a smart lad. He has everything you need. You saw in 15 minutes he got involved immediately. That is him. I am happy for him.’ Klopp was forced to miss training on Wednesday after feeling unwell, but added: ‘I am completely fine. It was nothing.’
