Yoko’s moan about Yoko Mono bar

- Mail Foreign Service

YOKO Ono has forced a bar called Yoko Mono to change its name.

Owner Nima Garous-Pour has been using the name for nearly 20 years in Hamburg, Germany.

But lawyers for John Lennon’s widow, 84, claimed he had been using her name and identity without legal permission.

Judges at the city’s regional court agreed – and ordered Mr Garous-Pour to remove the sign, even though he had already shortened the name to ‘Mono’. He told local media: ‘I am indeed sad about what is happening here. We hoped that we could keep the name.’

Now the owner fears for his other Hamburg bar, the John Lemon – particularly as in September, Yoko forced a Polish drinks manufacturer to change the name of its John Lemon beverage.
