Pay rise for boss ‘harms university’
A UNIVERSITY has damaged its reputation by paying its vice chancellor three times what the Prime Minister earns, a watchdog said yesterday.
Bath pays Dame Glynis Breakwell £4 8,000 – more than any other vice chancellor in the country. Yesterday the Higher Education Funding Council for England criticised Bath’s remuneration committee and the way the university allowed the vice chancellor and others to vote on a motion about their pay.
It criticised ‘flaws’ in procedure and a ‘lack of transparency and accountability’. Dame Glynis, 5, was branded ‘shameful and shameless’ this week after accepting a 3.9 per cent rise.
