PLAIN J

I am no great beauty, Ships will never launch for me, In a crowd of others I’m the face that you won’t see. I am nothing special, I am dull, a little plain, Very ordinary, The original Plain Jane. I’m not saying I’m ugly; No, it’s nothing so extreme. When people turn and see me They don’t run away and scream. But I don’t leave impressions On the people who I meet. They don’t gaze on my visage Then fall down at my feet. I’m under no illusions, There is not much I can do. But I don’t really care Because I’m beautiful to you. Judith Blatherwick, Garvald, East Lothian.
