INDUSTRIAL component maker Diploma soared after posting a 24pc jump in fullyear profits.

The firm, which supplies a range of industrial products, including the seals to the engine-repair gadgets used for Formula 1 cars, said business had benefited from the recovery in North American heavy construction which helped boost its sales.

Profits jumped 24pc to £66.8m while sales rose 18pc to £451.9m. Shares leapt 10.5pc, or 112p, to 1182p.
