IMG’s dangerous game

-

The Premier League, who strongly opposed Manchester City’s documentary series contract with amazon Prime, will be unimpressed that their long-time tv partners IMG are working for both sides. IMG, who produce Premier League Productions for the overseas market, are also production consultants for amazon’s fly-on-thewall project at the Etihad Stadium.

IMG say the amazon partnership comes out of the US where their office in Los angeles specialises in original content documentaries.

the Premier League say they understand that completely different IMG personnel are involved with amazon. But IMG are playing a dangerous game as they have made serious money from their 50-50 partnership with the Premier League, who could decide to take the production in-house. SKY

SPORTS, who have a dedicated golf channel, are still in a stand-off with Augusta over 2018 rights to the US Masters. It’s understood Sky have made a take-it-orleave-it offer which Augusta have yet to accept. Augusta’s position is strengthened by already having a BBC deal in place for highlights for the first two rounds and the weekend live. It shows how little England players value the medals from sponsors Old Mutual Wealth, presented for winning an autumn international, that Owen Farrell gave his to a young fan as he came down the twickenham steps following the presentation ceremony after the win against australia.
