HE has made a career out of playing the hero on our screens.

Now Harrison Ford has displayed some real-life heroics by helping a woman whose car plunged off a motorway.

The 75-year-old Indiana Jones star was driving behind the motorist near Los Angeles when she lost control of her car and tumbled 8ft down an embankment.

Springing into action, Ford rushed to her car with a first aid kit along with other witnesses who came to help. They reportedly smashed a window to lift the driver to safety.

The unnamed woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries on Sunday.

It isn’t the first time the Hollywood veteran has rushed to the public’s aid. Earlier this month the actor, who has starred in five Indiana Jones films and four Star Wars films, was seen directing traffic outside a blocked tunnel in New York after a car crash.

His Mercedes had become trapped in heavy traffic, so he hopped out and started to direct other cars away from the pile-up.
