Found, Lennon hoard stolen from Yoko
POLICE have recovered three of John Lennon’s diaries and two pairs of his signature metal-rimmed glasses more than a decade after they were stolen.
They were among around 100 items taken from Yoko Ono’s New York home in 2006 which also included a cigarette case, a school exercise book from 1952 and handwritten scores for Woman and (Just Like) Starting Over.
The German authorities were told about the items in July by a bankruptcy administrator for a Berlin auction house who had found them in storage.
Police confiscated the items which had appeared for sale in 2014 but were never sold. Detectives arrested a German businessman, 58, in Berlin on Monday. Officers found more of Lennon’s belongings hidden in his car.
Another suspect is Miss Ono’s chauffeur from 1995 to 2006. He is living in Turkey but police will try to extradite him.
