AFTER receiving a new contactless bank card in the post I was alarmed to discover I didn’t need to do anything to activate it. Does this mean that if it had been intercepted in the post by fraudsters it could be used to make tap-and-go payments?

No. You need to enter the PiN once before you can make any contactless payments. the crooks would need to know your PiN to steal anything.

I KEEP getting text messages from easyJet about flights I haven’t booked. One was to say that a flight from Turkey had been delayed. I’m worried the passenger they’re for is missing vital information. Can you resolve this?

The other passenger must have entered your number instead of their own. EasyJet has now corrected the error.

I AM TRYING to save a deposit for my first home. I have a Help to Buy Isa and I am thinking of opening a Lifetime Isa as well. Can I have both?

YES, you can, but you can only use the 25 pc government bonus on one of these accounts when you buy a home. For example, if you had £4,000 in a Lifetime isa then you would be entitled to a £1,000 bonus from the Government. if you had £2,000 in a help to Buy isa and £2,000 in a Lifetime isa, your bonus would only be £500. You can transfer the money in your help to Buy isa into a new Lifetime isa.

I READ in Money Mail earlier this year that thousands of people who had paid £110 to register for power of attorney were going to get some of their money back because they had been overcharged. Do you know when it is likely that we shall see our refund?

thE Ministry of Justice is in charge of rolling out this refund scheme. it says this is now in a ‘test phase’ and that more details will be announced in due course.
