2 BILLY THE KID
NICKNAMED Billy the Kid because of his youth, slight build and young appearance, William Bonney was killed around the age of 21.
Through the 1870s he gained a reputation as a deadly gunslinger, killing as many as 27 men who crossed his path.
Wild West folklore claims he killed a man who had insulted his mother when he was just 12, and another for snoring loudly.
In December 1880, he was arrested by a posse led by Pat Garrett and sentenced to hang. He escaped, but in July 1881, the sheriff found him in the bedroom of a friend’s house and shot him dead.
