Smart meter cash call

A FIRM that owns, installs and runs high-tech gas and electricity meters has made a £150m cash call to help it in a ‘land grab’ over the government-backed market.

Smart Metering Systems (SMS) is raising the cash on the stock market to seize on government plans for every household and business in the country to have a socalled smart meter by 2020.

Bosses said the roll- out was a ‘significant growth opportunity’ for SMS.
