MARLEY ENGLAND LIFT-OFF
ENGLAND women’s team restored some stability last night following a tumultuous few months. A shaky start to life without former boss Mark Sampson — sacked two months ago for ‘inappropriate relationships’ with players amid the Eni Aluko scandal that rocked the FA — was steadied with a 4-0 World Cup qualifying win against Bosnia & Herzegovina at Walsall. Two goals from captain Steph Houghton and others from Nikita Parris and Fran Kirby lifted the mood and helped press interim boss Mo Marley’s claims for the job. ‘I’m really enjoying it,’ said Marley, who may apply for the role.
