Strictly’s Alexandra wears fur... after her nude anti-fur poster

ALEXANDRA Burke has been called ‘beyond hypocritical’ for wearing a furtrimmed coat despite previously posing nude for an anti-fur campaign.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 29, wore a £775 Canada Goose coat – which has a coyote fur trim and duck down lining – as she arrived at the Tower Ballroom for the show’s Blackpool episode earlier this month.

Yet the singer featured on a poster for a campaign run by animal rights group PETA in 2013, which had the slogan: ‘I’d rather go naked than wear fur.’ Mark Glover, of charity Respect for Animals, said: ‘It’s just beyond hypocritical that she would take part in an

anti-fur publicity exercise and then prop up a morally bankrupt industry by wearing this product. She is is sending a terrible message to her fans. Shame on her.’

Canada Goose insists it only uses ‘animals that have not been subjected to unfair practices’. But PETA claims coyotes are ‘caught in horrific, bone- crushing steel traps’ and often starve to death. PETA said Miss Burke was ‘under the illusion the trim was faux’ and they contacted her to tell her the truth.

Miss Burke wrote on Twitter yesterday: ‘I am an animal lover, I have four dogs. I should have asked how it was manufactured and now I know, I will never wear it again. I am really sorry for any hurt I have caused.’
