AT 17 she took part in the first-ever lesbian kiss on British primetime TV. Now, 23 years on, Anna Friel has filmed not one but two more embraces with female co-stars.
Images from her US drama The Girlfriend Experience show her in a passionate moment with American actress Louisa Krause, 31.
Miss Friel, 41, who plays a highpowered political executive in the Amazon drama, also enjoys an intimate encounter with Iranian actress Narges Rashidi, 37.
It comes more than two decades after Miss Friel shot to fame by participating in the first lesbian kiss on pre-watershed British TV in 1994, during her role as Beth Jordache on Channel 4 soap Brookside.
Speaking about the lesbian scenes in her new show, she said: ‘Nudity and sex is key to the role. I’ve definitely upped my hours at the gym.’
Miss Friel was in a relationship with actor David Thewlis for nine years and the couple had a daughter, Gracie, in 2005. She is now thought to be single having previously dated Welsh actor Rhys Ifans.
