Women must share blame for sex pests says Lansbury
DAME Angela Lansbury has said women ‘must sometimes take blame’ for sexual harassment.
The veteran actress, 92, spoke in the wake of the Hollywood sex scandal started by claims against Harvey Weinstein.
‘There are two sides to this coin... We have to own up to the fact that women, since time immemorial, have gone out of their way to make themselves attractive,’ Dame Angela told Radio Times.
‘Unfortunately it has backfired on us. We must sometimes take blame. I really think that.
‘Although it’s awful to say we can’t make ourselves look as attractive as possible without being knocked down and raped. Should women be prepared for this? No, they shouldn’t have to be! There’s no excuse for that.’
The actress is to feature in the BBC’s latest TV adaptation of classic novel Little Women.
