Keep your key fob in fridge

-

KEEPING your key fob in the fridge or freezer is one way to stop your car being hacked, experts say.

The metal casing prevents thieves from being able to pick up electromagnetic signals emitted from the devices. Putting them in the microwave or a metal box could also help.

Earlier this year a study found 110 cars with keyless entry systems could be hacked in seconds.

The AA suggested an old-fashioned crook lock may be the only solution. The devices are locked to the steering wheel to prevent it turning.

Mercedes points out that owners can turn off the keyless function when they are at home.
