MAVIS ROBSON and her husband won a fancy dress competition because they were the only partygoers to take part (Peterborough). I entered the Hale village cakemaking competition at the annual carnival day and won first prize for my welsh bara brith for three consecutive years. Flushed with success, I entered for a fourth year.
