Two suspects are held over ‘sophisticated terror plot’
COUNTER terrorist police suspect they have smashed a ‘sophisticated’ new plot to bring carnage to the streets of Britain.
Armed officers arrested two men aged 20 and 21 in raids in London and Birmingham.
Sources described the arrests as ‘significant’ and said there is evidence they had begun to amass materials for attacks.
Investigators believe the men were inspired by online jihadi propaganda.
The two men were arrested in a joint operation involving Scotland Yard, West Midlands Police and MI5. The first raid took place in north London just before 3pm on Tuesday and the second took place 90 minutes later in south east Birmingham.
The pair were held on suspicion of being involved in the commission, preparation and instigation of terrorism.
