JAMIE AND JIMMY’S FRIDAY NIGHT FEAST, 8PM, CH4
THIS week, Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty’s Southend Pier cafe is graced by the glamorous presence of Joanna Lumley, a vegetarian for ‘about 45 years’. With meat off the menu, Jamie gets things off to a spectacular start with his version of a North African classic, a m’hanncha m — a Moroccan filo pastry ‘snake’ packed with a caramelised mixture of butternut squash, dried fruit, pearl barley, garlic and spices. Plus, Jamie teaches Joanna (pictured with the presenters) to make a fragrant Malaysian aubergine curry, and Jimmy gets busy building a vertical vegetable patch, and the boys take to the road to champion British broad beans.
