RAFA: I SAVED BLUES AND WANTED TO STAY

RAFA BENITEZ says he ‘saved’ Chelsea in 2013 and would have stayed if not for fans putting pressure on the club’s hierarchy. The Newcastle boss returns to Stamford Bridge for the first time since winning the Europa League and guiding Chelsea to third in the Premier League. He said: ‘My relationship with (Roman) Abramovich was very good. He brought me to save the team and achieve what we did achieve but the board could not manage with some fans.’
