Why women are best leaders, by Barack Obama
MORE women should be in leadership roles because they ‘have a better capacity than men’, according to Barack Obama.
Speaking at a meeting of business leaders in Paris, the former US president said ‘men seem to be having some problems these days’ – a comment some have interpreted as a reference to a spate of sexual assault and harassment scandals surrounding high-profile men.
‘Not to generalise, but women seem to have a better capacity than men do, partly because of their socialisation,’ Mr Obama said at the event on Saturday.
He also took a swipe at his successor Donald Trump by apologising for a ‘temporary absence of American leadership’ on climate change.
Mr Trump announced plans in June to withdraw from the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement to cap rises in global temperatures and cut carbon emissions.
‘It is an agreement that – even though we have a little bit of a pause in American leadership – is giving our children a fighting chance,’ Mr Obama said.
