MICHAEL BALL and Alfie Boe met when they were in Kismet at the London Coliseum ten years ago, and the two friends have made records and toured together since then. They have a new album out of hits from the musicals, including And This Is My Beloved and Stranger In Paradise from Kismet. KEN BRUCE (RADIO 2, 9.30AM) welcomes them to the studio to perform tracks from the album.

JACKIE was horrified to learn that she went out on her motorbike in the middle of the night. Her landlady asked her why she did this — but Jackie had no memory of these nocturnal trips. She came to realise that she was riding her motorbike in her sleep. Now, she keeps the keys to her current vehicle in a time-locked safe. We hear about Jackie’s case — and other, even more alarming ones — in the first of a threeto

part series on the neurology of sleeping disorders, MYSTERIES OF SLEEP (RADIO 4 (FM), 11AM). DAVID GRAY’S album White Ladder was first released in 1998, getting off to a rocky start. Stuffed with hits such as This Year’s Love, Sail Away and Say Hello Wave Goodbye, it rose to number one in 2001 and spent three years in the UK top 100. The singersongwriter (pictured) joins John Wilson on this week’s MASTERTAPES (RADIO 4, 3.30PM)

to talk about his hit album and to give an acoustic performance of some of the tracks.
